The Couple Shoot
Our shoot with Ruhee and Mehran kicked off inside the stunning Sagan Banquet Hall, transformed for the evening into a festive dreamscape. Ruhee wore a radiant orange lehenga choli that flowed beautifully every time she twirled — and yes, there were a lot of twirls. Her henna-covered hands added a layer of intricate detail, each design telling a story of tradition and love. Mehran complemented her perfectly in a white shalwar kameez paired with a multi-coloured waistcoat that popped against the warm-toned backdrop.
We captured a mix of candid laughter, soft gazes, and playful poses, bringing out their comfort and connection. Some of our favorite shots include detailed henna close-ups, sweet nose touches, and a few stolen giggles before the festivities began.

The Decor: A Mehendi Wonderland Full of Marigolds, Umbrellas, & Lanterns
Stepping into the venue felt like entering a Rajasthani fairytale. The decor was a stunning blend of pinks, purples, corals, and peaches — creating the perfect palette for a South Asian celebration. The swing seat stole the show, nestled beneath a burst of marigolds and surrounded by patterned umbrellas. Hanging lanterns gave the space a festive glow, while the tiny umbrella centerpieces added the cutest, whimsical touch to every table.
The groom’s side made a grand entrance, dancing their way in with joy and dhol beats. The bride’s entrance was equally magical as she walked in beneath a flowing yellow dupatta, held lovingly by her family. It was a true moment of beauty and emotion.

Dholki & Rasam: A Celebration of Song, Sisterhood & Sacred Rituals
This portion of the evening was where tradition truly came to life. Women gathered on floor cushions for the dholki, dressed in dazzling, colorful outfits that lit up the space. Surrounded by laughter and the steady rhythm of the dhol, they sang familiar songs passed down through generations. The hosts even printed out little songbooks, adding a sweet and inclusive touch that made everyone feel connected, whether they were seasoned singers or shy first-timers.
Amid the music and joy, the mood gently shifted into a more sacred moment as the rasam began. Close family members performed this symbolic ritual by applying haldi (turmeric) onto the couple’s hands using fresh green leaves — a tradition believed to purify the couple and bring prosperity ahead of their wedding day. The gesture was deeply emotional, a beautiful reminder of the blessings and protection being passed from one generation to the next.
The rasam ended on a sweet note — literally — as the couple was lovingly fed mithai (traditional South Asian sweets) by their family, symbolizing the hope for a life filled with joy, abundance, and shared sweetness. Together, the dholki and rasam brought layers of meaning, memory, and togetherness to the evening — grounding all the glamour in something deeply cultural and intimate.
